When I first got my 1979 edition of the Bible I noticed the footnotes marked as JST. They usually add so much to my understanding of that passage. But there are so many footnotes that I generally just ignored them. So starting in Genesis I went through the whole Bible page by page looking for JST footnotes. When I found one I marked the letter with a red pencil in the text and at the bottom of the page. Anytime I was reading and saw a red footnote I would look at it.
Now I usually read my electronic version of the scriptures and I really miss my red footnotes.
